Our Impact
Our School
It is not in very remote past that Metropolis as a secondary school for boys started breathing in a wide community of private schools in Karachi. With all the grace of Almighty ALLAH, within the 3rd year of its existence, Metropolis emerged as one of the best schools in town for male students due to the toughest disciplinary and academic standards. The remarkable SSC results, exemplary discipline, recognition at national and international level and much more did not take much time in the Academy.
The care, love and devotion with which the ideals of parents are valued in the school earned great communal support for Metropolis. This resulted in immense pressure from the parents to extend the services of Metropolis to preprimary students, primary students and female students and to extend the horizons to further areas.
This makes the story goes on. Starting with a single secondary school for boys, Metropolis became a system of schools and colleges over a brief span of time. The first extension was the establishment of our Shadman Town campus which was followed by the establishment of preprimary and primary sections at the Gulberg campus. North Nazimabad campus was the next to follow.
Keeping an Islamic perspective towards the schooling process and sensing the horrifying impact of the print and electronic media, we soon decided to provide a separate learning environment to our female students and two separate campuses were founded in Gulberg and North Nazimabad (Shaki Hasan) in the last two years.
“Why to leave our students alone after matriculation?” This was the difficult question posed by the parents which was answered respectfully with the addition of separate boys and girls intermediate colleges in Metropolis Education System. These colleges are trying best to drop our students at the doors of leading professional institutes of the country to make a positive sign in the development and prosperity of our students and, in turn, rendering their share in the development of country.
We are among the very few private schools in the country which have developed a refined in service teachers training programme. This programme is headed by our senior staff members which are expert in the field of education. This programme is an ongoing phenomenon in all the schools and colleges of the system and a continuous teachers’ developmental programme stay in action throughout the year.
As a dynamic system, Metropolis paves for new ways to make learning easy and fruitful. The research and development department of the system is working on early child hood, primary and secondary curriculum. Part of this new curriculum has been developed and brought into action; while, the remaining work will be done in the years to come with the help of Almighty ALLAH.
From 2001, Curricular Enrichment Scheme has been incorporated as a basic curricular component where students are given an opportunity to enhance their learning with first-hand experiences.

Facilities
Staff Development Center
Each of our branch has its own staff development center where the teachers are provided practical training to facilitate their professional development. However, the central staff development center is located at the Head Office Gulberg Campus with all the resources; including, a well stocked library, computer facilities, instructional media and the like.
Training Programme
Besides the frequent in-service teachers training programmes conducted by each school at individual level, the head office conducts a central large-scale training programme for the teachers. Experts from across the city are invited to share their expertise with our teachers. This programme is divided in two categories. For the teachers, a general teaching methodology course and a subject specific training programme is conducted; whereas the senior and head teachers, participate in a school administration programme besides the above two programmes. Apart from these programmes, teachers are benefited from the work of other organizations; like, SPELT, TRC, British council and Aga Khan Education Services.
Research and Development Department
This department continuously works on devising and adapting curriculum, designing tests, teachers training and writing course material and books.
Technological Resources
Instructional resources play a pivotal role in providing fruitful learning. An audio-visual room in each campus, a resource room, a vast collection of videos and tapes, a refined selection of software in the form of CDs and state of the art computers are integrated with curriculum and students have an open access to these facilities.
Diagnostic Clinic
Diagnostic clinic is headed by expert staff members who are expert in the field of testing and measurement. These members are designated in each school from the head office where they continually determine the areas where students need improvement. The areas noted are brought into the notice of such students and their parents and efforts are targeted to make up the same.
Metropolis Counselling Service
In all the schools, MCS works independently and deals with all the personal problems that might hinder the academic progress of a student. Senior and trained counsellors deal with the study problems of the students with parental support and try to raise the academic performance of students facing any study problem.
School Evaluation
Head office closely monitors the progress of all the campuses very closely. For this, each campus is evaluated on monthly basis on our own self set standards which are open to revision with the rapid changes in the educational field around the globe. The research and development department provides training to the evaluators.
Library
Supplementing and referencing the work done in the classes is one of the prime focuses of education in the system. Hence, due stress is given on the development of libraries. At the present, the library of Gulberg campus presents a wide range of collection of books and journals covering almost all the school subjects and much beyond. A wide collection of CDs is an additional feature of the library. Reading rooms have been provided. Students may freely borrow the books and other resources.
Laboratories
Good laboratories are an inseparable part of any school as these are needed for testification and verification of concepts learnt in physical and biological sciences. Science laboratories in all the campuses have been provided with all state-of-the-art facilities and students have an open access to these facilities. In recent years, we have started a project through which we will provide computer aided demonstrations in all science subjects.
Students Clubs and Societies
National club, Art and Craft Club, Drama Society, Literary Society, Science Club, IT Society and Math Society add richness in Metropolis day-to-day life.
Newsletters and Al Absar
These provide insight to students & parents into the life within the school and in the community. Students showcase their knowledge and writing skills by writing on topics; like, current affairs, literature, science, culture and religion
